THE SPHERE

SPHERE is a performance film born around a giant ball, conceived as a living light installation. Created by cinematographer Alexandre Jamin, this structure is at once a source, a star, a world, a mirror and a matrix. At the heart of this installation, two dancers move within a space made of shifting facets, reflective surfaces and mirror effects. Light is no longer simply a means of illumination: it becomes an organic, moving, almost breathing material. It enters into dialogue with the bodies, amplifies their gestures, diffracts them, and transforms them into luminous vectors. The choreographic relationship in the film is based on a kind of law of attraction. The two bodies discover one another, seduce one another, attract each other, magnetize, repel, tear apart, and come back together. Their movement becomes the metaphor of a couple in formation, crossed by desire, tension, fusion and separation. But beyond them, there is the sphere. A central and almost cosmic presence, it seems to generate them, to give birth to them, and then to absorb them again. As if the bodies emerged from light only to return to it. As if this sphere contained within itself the very idea of the world: a globe, a moon, a star that governs emotions, energies and inner tides. A form both primitive and festive, reminding us that we are matter, dust, sparkle, movement, and that, in the end, we always return to light or dust. The film then becomes an ode to the freedom of bodies, to disco culture as a space of emancipation, and to dance as a radical act of beauty, joy and transgression. Conceived as an autonomous artistic object, SPHERE is also the introduction to a larger form. The film acts as a pilot: the first appearance of an installation capable of unfolding differently, in other locations, on a larger scale, with more dancers, and with choreographies reinvented according to each space.
